At this year’s AGM, which took place during the AoPGBI Annual Meeting in London last month we were pleased to announce this year’s appointments and changes to the AoPGBI’s Executive Committee and Board for the 2025/26 term.

We would like to thank all outgoing members for their service and welcome those taking up new positions. The continued contributions of our members is essential to the organisation’s mission and future direction.

Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer Appointments

After completing his three-year term as Honorary Secretary, Professor Julian Knight will now serve as Honorary Treasurer for the next three years. Stepping into the role of Honorary Secretary is Professor Sinéad Langan, who begins her three-year term with this appointment.

The 2025/26 Executive Committee Membership

The Executive Committee is representative of the membership and meets throughout the year. It considers and acts on current issues affecting the Association and reports to the Board of Trustees. Fellows and Members (including international, non-clinical, industry and early career members) are eligible for election to the ExCom. Members of ExCom also sit on the Internal, External and Annual Meeting Programme Committees.

  • Dr Helen Devine – Neurology (Newcastle), replacing Dr Emily Watts

 

QJM Executive Editorship

  • Professor Seamas Donnelly continues as Executive Editor – Respiratory (Trinity College Dublin)

The Board of Trustees

The AoPGBI is governed as a registered charity, with its Board of Trustees responsible for overseeing the management of the Association. The Board meets in person at least twice a year and holds overall authority for fulfilling the Association’s charitable obligations. It receives guidance from the Executive Committee (ExCom) and delegates day-to-day operations to the sub-committees.
