Abstracts Submission
The Executive Committee invites submissions of abstracts for the 116th Annual Meeting of the Association of Physicians of Great Britain and Ireland to be presented as part of a series of themed symposia.
Themes
When submitting your abstract, you must indicate one theme from the list below that best suits your paper.
Please note that these themes should only be used as a guide.
The themes are used by the Executive Committee to place abstracts in the most appropriate sessions – please see below for more information on each theme and how to submit your abstract:
We are still living through a once-in-a-century pandemic which has had enormous medical, social and economic consequences. We need to prepare for future pandemics, and have already been confronted by monkeypox, hepatitis in children and vaccine-derived polio. This is on top of continuing waves of SARS-CoV-2 infections. The symposium invites abstracts on any of these issues, with plenary sessions in pandemic preparedness and monkeypox.
Genomics is having a major impact on all areas of medicine, and there is a gradual transition to the mainstreaming of genomics into clinical medicine. The symposium invites abstracts on any areas of genomics, with plenary sessions in the role of genomics in drug discovery and in cancer.
Data is hugely important for both healthcare delivery and for research. This symposium will explore how the NHS is using data, and the use of data in research, and technology companies are using data for healthcare purposes. We welcome abstracts on any aspect of data science.
Therapeutic options to treat many neurological diseases have been lacking, but recent advances in novel therapies offer some promise for the future. This symposium will explore the development of novel therapies in Motor Neurone Disease and in Parkinson’s Disease. We welcome abstracts on new treatment advances in neurological disease.
The Association warmly welcomes a wide range of themes under its ‘open theme’ category.
